I want to start training, how do
Just come along on a Friday evening, any time between
7.15pm & 8.30pm, with your dog. On the first week you
can just have a look and see what we offer (no obligation)
- if you like what you see you can enrol and pay your membership.
We'll ask you to socialise for a further week and then we
will get you started in a class.
Does my dog need vaccinations?
Yes - all dogs must be fully vaccinated as this is a Kennel
Club rule. We will need to see your dogs vaccination certificate
before they can partake in classes, if you do not provide
this proof then you will not be permitted to attend.
* If your
dog has had a Kennel Cough vaccine/nasal spray either for
their puppy vaccs or their booster at any point throughout
the year then they must not attend for at least 3 weeks
afterwards, this is because it is a live vaccine and therefore
the virus is active and can be passed on to other dogs.
* If you have
a puppy having their first vaccinations they must be clear
which means he/she can not attend for at least two weeks
after their second vaccination.
old does my dog have to be?
Your dog can attend at any age as long as it is
fully vaccinated & microchipped before enrolment.
my dog need to be microchipped?
Yes, now this has become law this must be done before you
can attend. We have a scanner and will check all new members.
I need a specific type of collar?
We suggest a half check collar but any correctly
fitting collar is fine. We do not allow flexi leads to be
used in class. Harnesses are not recommended (except if
used because of an injury or suchlike).
How much does it cost?
We charge an annual (human) membership of £5.00 single/£7.50
joint/£10.00 family and then a further fee of £2.50
to £3.00 a week (per dog) depending on which class
you attend. The 7.00pm & 7.30pm classes last 30 mins
and are £2.50 and the 8.00pm & 8.40pm classes
last 40 mins and are charged at £3.00.
long does a course last?
We do not have courses that run for a certain period
of time, we run classes every week, for as long as you wish
to partake, whether that be 10 weeks or 10 years!
you have a waiting list?
Sometimes we do but just pop along and we'll get
you started as soon as we can.
my child handle our dog in class?
Our insurance states any handler must be 13 years or over.
If younger they are more than welcome to sit and watch but
unfortunately can not go into a class.
Do I have to have a pedigree dog to join?
No you do not.
Pedigrees, Crossbreeds and Mixed breeds are all welcome.
have a rescue dog, can I join?
Yes, of course, we have many rescue dogs as members. However,
we do recommend that you have had your new family member
for a good few weeks before coming along. This is so you
have had time to create a bond and know your dogs characteristics.
I’m a member, what happens if I miss a class?
text us using the phone number given when you first joined,
email on firstname.lastname@example.org
or Facebook us at www.facebook.com/groups/BDDTA
if you are going to be absent
on any club night. Please bear in mind that club rules state
that if you miss three weeks without contacting us you will
automatically forfeit your place in the class and will be
returned to the waiting list.
Can I come along to have a look?
Please do - follow the directions given on the
Contact Us page of this website
and come and have a look. (And, yes...you can bring your
dog too if fully vaccinated)
